Can You Run a Business Out of Your Condo in NYC?

Question by Lola: Can you run a business out of your condo in NYC?
Long story short. I’m a med student. I will become a practitioner soon. I wanted to open my own small “center”. I will perform small things. Detox/Homeopathic/Naturotherapy sort of stuff. I don’t expect it to be busy. Maybe 2-3 people (at most) at a time in my condo. I was going to block off one part to live..and the other to conduct business. It would obviously not be a loud business and I doubt anyone would know I’m running one from there. I also am interested in doing taxes. However, I know there are rules.

I have seen several businesses being run from homes here in NYC. They have their business downstairs, and live upstairs. Thing is, I don’t have 550k+ to put down on a home. :-/

I have seen these condo buildings that also have doc offices in them, etc. Any suggestions info?

I’m not from NYC..but it seems like they treat you all (myself included) like slaves/jews. There is a rule for everything out here. Ugh.
