Have You Ever Known Anyone Who Has Had a Complete Recovery From Mental Illness?

Question by ?12/31/09?: Have you ever known anyone who has had a complete recovery from mental illness?
I mean severe mental illness. Like the kind where the person is emotionless because of being raised in a highly dysfunctional environment. Lets just say this person lost both parents, one to a car wreck on to suicide. Now, before the deaths he was a very adhd person, now in his 20’s he is a dark person who gets joy out of sick things. Can God heal this? Or even a Psychologist?
was supposed to say “one to suicide”
In other words, “CAN GOD HEAL A PSYCHO” ?

I have known literally dozens of people who have recovered. I certainly have recovered from some pretty bad stuff and bad ways of being. Not the least of which was a six year long bout of panic attacks that in the end were leading to suicidal delusions. I also used to be extremely violent with a very short fuse and could easily have killed someone. But I fought to find myself and am now so calm I am sometimes accused of being a pacifist. And the people I have been associated with and have coached back to good health have been really wanting more than anything to be okay again. And without drugs. So yes, you absolutely can recover from any manner of so called ‘mental illness’ without drugs if you have the right support and are determined that what you want is a peaceful life. However, if you don’t want it, or aren’t willing to work your arse off to get it.. then you won’t.

Nope…

Mental illness isn’t something you can “Cure” like cancer… With cancer, you can remove the effected tissue and be all better… With the mind, you are NEVER “recovered”.

Just like an alcoholic or drug addict… You will ALWAYS be in “Recovery”.
