Are Sane People the Minority in the US Anymore?

Question by Trixie: Are sane people the minority in the US anymore?
When GW Bush was president, almost half the country thought he was Hitler’s equal, staged 9/11 for sh!ts and giggles and had secret concentration camps. Now Obama is president and almost half the country thinks he wants to kill us Mengele-style through healthcare reform, go door-to-door stealing guns and that he is going to take all their money through taxes.

Is it really any wonder that our country is going down the toilet when the vast majority of citizens distrust the government when their own party is not in power, do not understand compromise and can’t bother to listen to facts?
Anyone remember when the president was respected whether he was from your party or not?
If the people don’t trust them, why did we elect them in the first place? People act like they are kings and queens who are just arbitrarily in power. Almost everyone in office had at least half of their constituents vote for them. Did everyone forget how government works or something?

I’m not American but i see no reason to trust any government. Why would you? I also doubt there was a time when most people trusted them.

Lol, I can see how it looks that way. Truth is, only a small percentage of people on the left and right are extreme enough to have those beliefs. It just seems like its more because those are the ones you hear from on the internet and other media. Ya know, “the empty wagon makes the most noise”. The majority of Americans are relatively moderate, or at lease a lot closer to the center, than we are right or left, even if we usually vote that way.
