It’s basically an undefined unit of measure, whatever you want that unit to be. So say your recipe says “add one part vodka to two parts orange juice”, if you use 2 ounces of vodka, you’ll want to use 4 ounces of orange juice.

it depends on how much you’re making. a part is relative. say your recipe is one part rum, two parts juice and two parts gin. and you want to make a pitcher of 40 ounces, that’s 8 oz rum, 16 oz juice and 16oz gin. if it’s a 15 oz glass, then it’s 3oz of rum, 6 oz of juice and 6 oz of gin.
