You hear all the time about people being hooked on drugs, alcohol ect. But if you think about it: Anything can be an additction. Things like Pornography, food, Coca Cola, ANYTHING! What exactly does it say in the Bible about addiction? I know that in the Bible it says that Gluttony, and Drunkeness are both sins. With that being known, it should say that we have more control over “things” of the earth than we believe right? I mean it sounds silly that someone can let a 24 pack of beer control their lives. I have never felt the need to get severely wasted. I have drank but it was mostly in very small amounts. And today I don’t drink at all. I just simply don’t really desire to. I think that anything that gives us pleasure can cause us to keep doing it because we like it! Not because we are hooked on it.
I guess you could say someone is in bondage when they cannot quit a bad habit. But from my experience, The Holy Spirit gives you more pleasure than anything else possibly could. Without any side effects, and without any hangover. Sure! I have had my share of hangovers in the past. They are no fun.
I have seen people so wasted that they couldn’t even walk. I never had a desire to get like that. The most I have ever drank in one night was 8 beers. That was a very long time ago. And… That did make me sick.

Well, perhaps I am clueless when it comes to drugs like Crack, or Cocaine. I have never taken any drugs in my life whatsoever. Only alcohol, so I guess I lied since alcohol is a drug, but thats it.
Okay, you are right. I have no right to say what I just did because its never happened to me. So I appologize.
But I don’t want to give this sort of thing too much credit either. Because I believe that anything is possible with the Holy Spirit. And if someone is physically dependent on something, he can take that away.    Read more...
