Is This Animal Abuse for Dogs? Please Help.?

Question by applemonjuice: Is this animal abuse for dogs? Please help.?
My neighbor’s yard has poop everywhere! The smell of their dog poop will blow to our house with the wind. That’s how much poop they have in their yard! I’d take a picture of their yard but it would be too obvious and they’ll wonder what the heck I’m doing. The neighbors never pick up their dog’s poop, and when they do it’s like once every 3-4 months. Imagine if you were surrounded by 3-4 months worth of your own poop, that’s freaking nasty!

So the problem is they also have this adorable but completely neglected pit-bull mix dog who basically lives in the yard. She has a dog house, but she’s not tethered and she basically goes potty in the yard and roams around in the yard. She is the sweetest thing (I sneak by and give her dog treats sometimes). I saw her today on our side of the yard and she was pooping and only a foot or so away from her legs was more poop that was never picked up. Someone told me dog poop can carry diseases and bugs and I’m pretty sure she has fleas because she’s always scratching herself when she’s outside in the yard.

The neighbors are really gross, they do drugs, and even let their friend’s children play in the yard (with the poop all around them)! I can’t really “prove” that they don’t play with her or give her attention, but let’s just say I haven’t seen them play ball or anything. They just look at the dog and acknowledge it.

Okay, so please help. I need to know this because I feel so bad for this poor pup. I tried calling the humane society about this twice today and it’s not really a matter I’d call the police for. I left a message last week at the humane society “animal abuse hotline” and they never called me back. Go figure.
No, she’s doesn’t appear to be underweight. There are no signs of bones showing or anything, they clearly feed her. I am looking at the county animal law website and I don’t see anything that mentions poop in the yard…
I can’t really “suggest” anything to these neighbors. They are druggies who don’t give a crap about their own dog.

I wouldn’t call it abuse but it’s sure neglect! PPL shouldn’t have animals if they’re just gonna leave it in the yard! Theyre are multiple groups that deal with that exact thing if you google a little you should find what your looking for 🙂

keep trying the humane Society…if there is a pet-smart or a pet-co store near by ask them. either works closely with the rescue groups in the area. good luck
