Should I Stay or Leave?
Question by : Should I stay or leave?
I have been married for almost ten years and have two kids, ages 4 and 5. My husband is using cocaine, which has been a battle our whole relationship. I know, I shouldn’t have married him or had children with him. But I always believed him when he said he would never do it again.
Anyway, here I am two kids later and again he has admitted that he is using. He wants to get help, but remember I’ve heard this one a thousand times. I definitely do not love him the way I used to.
My question is do I stay for the kids? They are still young so I don’t know how it will affect them. The biggest struggle with the decision is that he is what they call a “functioning addict”. He is not violent or abusive and he doesn’t steal money or anything like that. He just sleeps a lot and has an attitude problem. The kids love him to death and they are not stupid. I’m afraid if I start legal actions, things will get ugly and the kids will suffer more.

I’m trying to figure out how you would be staying for the kids by putting them in a household with drug use going on?
That just doesn’t even make sense. Think about it.
If you are acting just for the kids, it makes a lot more sense to get them out of that environment. Be honest with yourself on this, please.
